From the 7th till the 15th of October, the Beirut International Film Festival will be held in two theatres in Beirut: Salle Montaigne at Institut Français and Grand Cinemas ABC Achrafieh.

The BIFF presents three programs this year: the “Panorama” section showcases feature films hand-picked from major international film festivals that mostly premiered in Cannes 2015, either in the Official Selection or in Un Certain Regard. And two other sections, for documentary and short films centred on Middle Eastern productions.

In her official statement, director of festival Colette Naufal stated that “this year’s festival offers a selection of films that are embedded in the reality of the consequences of globalization. Issues such as migration flows or integration along with the resurgence of nationalism are at the core of the 2015 production”.
The documentaries and short films section will present the works of the new upcoming generation of Lebanese filmmakers that the jury will award at the closing ceremony.

This year’s jury members are: award-winning Brazilian-American director Jonathan Nossiter, French Argentine scriptwriter and director Santiago Amigorena, film critic and culture journalist Alexandra Zawia, actress Doria-Svetlana Achour and author Michael Greenberg.
